Quality Assurance is the checks and balances your organisation has in place to ensure design quality and consistency with the Guidelines for Water Measurement and Reporting. It involves the systematic monitoring and evaluation of the process to maximise the likelihood that minimum standards are reached. The two principles are of Quality Assurance are: “Fit for purpose”, be suitable for the intended purpose; and “Right first time”, mistakes should be eliminated. Quality Assurance systems range from formal ISO Accreditation, through to simple notes on client files that record the process followed.
Quality Assurance systems are needed as your accreditation status implies that all your subsequent installations and verifications will reach the same standard to which the accreditation was made. They allow, by virtue of the documented processes and data, demonstration of ‘consistent and quality processes’ to a third party auditor. The two yearly renewal process will require demonstration of on-going adherence with the Guidelines.
A recording system is key to a successful QA system. This does not have to be elaborate, but it needs to provide evidence that that your quality and safety procedures are active and effective, i.e. records with dates and signatures.
